Step aside full glam make looks, it’s time for soft glam to shine! While we love Cut-crease eyeshadows, dramatic lashes, and bold lips (we see you Fenty uncensored). On an everyday basis, soft glam is a breath of fresh air, giving a softer, natural and more radiant appearance to the skin. Not to mention less time-consuming.

What is soft glam?

While soft glam makeup is still glam, it is more diffused and simpler in appearance than full glam; trade in your colourful eyeshadows and bold brows for glowy skin and neutral tones for effortless natural glam.

Here are (8) steps on how to get a soft, dewy and natural makeup look.
step 1

All great makeup applications start with the base.

Prepping the skin will give a more seamless and hydrating natural-looking makeup look.
Start with your skincare and get a good moisturizer and primer. I opted for the Elf illuminating primer with subtle gold shimmer for optimal glow.

Step 2

Apply a sheer to medium coverage foundation or skin tint/BB cream
.

Here I am applying Maybelline fit me foundation sparsely across my face. By doing this, my skin gets to peek through the foundation, and since this foundation is lightweight, It gives the base a more natural finish (take a shot for every time I say natural, haha)

Here are 10 Non-comedogenic foundations to try for acne-prone skin that wont clog your pores

Step 3

Conceal

Unless that is the look you are going for, natural glam makeup does not rely as heavily on full coverage products as full glam makeup looks. I went with the Fenty Beauty matchstick trio for concealer and contour creams. This concealer gave me the perfect amount of coverage while still appearing skin-like.

Step 4

set it – Less powder is optimal for a better glow.

When setting my concealer for soft natural makeup, I don’t bake. Less powder is better, especially when dewy skin is the goal. I applied a decent amount of the Laura Mercier translucent honey powder to set and brushed it off soon after. The same concept applies to contour powders. Powder dries out the skin by absorbing your natural oils and can make your makeup cakey, even with minimal products on your face. Less is better when it comes to soft glam makeup looks. Here, I used the black radiance contour palette.

Step 5

You’re making me blush! (wink)

I have developed a huuge affinity for blushes, cream and powder alike. Initially using the cream blush from Sephora, the shade was too light and barely showed up on my skin. I will try their other shades or give up on that product. Next, I went over that with Milani rose powder blush.

Step 6

Lash and brows

I used my Elf volumizing mascara to add a bit of volume to my lashes, then applied the wispiest, natural-looking lashes I could find (That still had a bit of flair, of course). Next, I used Anastasia Beverly Hills brow gel to set my brows; I wanted them as fluffy and natural as possible.

Step 7

Highlight… but subtle.

For highlight, I used an old faithful- it never disappoints; NYX high glass and applied it to the high points of my face with a brush and followed with my fingers. Using your fingers is probably the best way to apply this, as it would push the product into the skin and give a more diffused and (take your shot) natural final product.

Step 8

Set and gloss

I love the Morphe continuous setting mist, a must when trying to achieve dewy skin. I used Colourpop lip liner in BFF and topped it off with the Fenty beauty gloss bomb in Fenty glow.
There you have it! (8) steps to achieving a soft, natural (13) makeup look for glowy skin. And yess, I took my 13 shots (of water).
