Summer Friday’s jet lag mask has been all the rave since it hit shelves in march 2018, and with its new and improved formula, it shows no sign of slowing down many years later.
I’ve been using the jet lag mask for a few years now and found it to be one of the best face masks for stressed-out fatigued skin. It gives a radiant glow and leaves the skin feeling soft and moisturized. Every. Single. Time.
Here are my pros:
- Creamy and lightweight formula
- Vegan and cruelty-free
- Fragrance-free
- Eco-friendly packaging
- Suitable for most skin types
- Multi-purpose
- Non-Comedogenic
Here are my cons:
- High price point
- difficulty removing all the product from the packaging once running low (think toothpaste with harder, fragile aluminium tubing)
About The Brand:
Summer Fridays is co-owned by influencers Marianna Hewitt and Lauren Gores Ireland, whom I adore. Their first product was the jet lag mask which catapulted their brand and made them a cult classic for skin care, body care and aesthetics. They have since expanded their product line from; other masks, serums, sunscreens, lip balms, skin tints and more. I am also currently using their Lip Butter Balm and the Light Aura Vitamin C+ Peptide Eye Cream. Look out for a review of both soon.
In regards to the packaging, Summer Friday’s website states the new box is made from
“100% tree-free paper bagasse, a waste product of sugar and a rapidly renewable resource”
-Summer Fridays
The aluminium tube is also recyclable, remember to remove the cap.
How to use:
While the term mask typically insinuates a wash-off treatment, Summer Friday’s Jet Lag Mask can be used in multiple ways; a last-step moisturizer, overnight mask, primer and rinse-off treatment.
I have a combination skin type, which means certain parts of my skin may need different things simultaneously. I am also a frequent visitee of dry spots, making my skin, at times, very dry and dull, so moisturizing skin care products are usually my go-to; I love a glowing finish. Although The Jet Lag mask is best suitable for dry skin, it is water-based; therefore, people with oily skin should have no issues using it.
For this review i’m using The Jet Lag Mask as a last-step moisturizer. After thoroughly cleansing and toning, I applied a thin layer to my face and massaged it into the skin.
The Results:
Although this mask has a lightweight formula, I found when it is applied heavily, it has a sweat-inducing effect. This mask does dry clear though it comes out white straight from the tube.
10minutes after the application, my skin felt rejuvenated and replenished. In conclusion, Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask is perfect for achieving hydrated skin.
About the Ingredients:
Featuring powerhouse ingredients such as Niacinamide, hyaluronic Acid and glycerin, The Jet Lag Mask promises to soothe skin and leave it looking renewed. Niacinamide helps to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and pores. It also assists in decreasing redness and inflammation to create a smooth, brighter and more even skin tone and texture. Hyaluronic Acid is a staple ingredient in most skincare products because it hydrates by drawing moisture into the skin. It gives a plump and glowing appearance while reducing fine lines. Glycerine is a humectant that helps in providing dryness relief. It moisturizes by attracting and locking in moisture. Along with these, The Jet Lag Mask also has B5, Chamomile and Comfrey.
Cost:
The Jet Lag Mask retails for $49 for 2.25 fl oz and the travel size for $26 for 1.0 fl oz. This mask is more costly than other products in this category in terms of the amount of product received. However, a little goes a long way, so even if used frequently it should last for a while. If you plan on incorporating this mask into your everyday skincare routine, I recommend investing in the regular-sized 2.25 fl oz tube or the Jumbo Jet Lag Mask for $67 for 5.0 fl oz.
