Skincare routines can be hard, like really hard.
Whether it’s the dread of sifting through tons of products hoping you find one that delivers on its promises, or just not knowing where to start. Couple that with cold, dry temperatures and lets just say, it can be a bit overwhelming. The key to glowy skin during winter is moisture, moisture, moisture! Keeping your skin hydrated is the ultimate goal, so moisture should become your best friend! Although the weather here in Florida does tend to be wonky, there’s no denying it’s going to be cold this winter. It’s time to arrange our winter skincare routine to transition from summer to dryer weather.
Cleanse
The first step to a good skin routine is to always start with a clean base. Remove all the gunk accumulated throughout the day, especially makeup and start with a gentle cleanser. My product of choice is the cerave grenewing SA cleanser. With little to no scent, it leaves my skin feeling clean without looking dry.
Toner
This should be a no brainer as toners are a third of the skin care trifecta, including cleanser and moisturizer, no routine is complete without either. After cleansing comes toning, I use Olehendriksen’s glow 2OH dark spot toner. This step helps to balance your skin’s pH while prepping it for serums, treatments and moisturizers to get the best results.

Lock that moisture in
Hyaluronic acid. This serum is a must in all winter skin care routines. How it works is by pulling and absorbing moisture to your skin from your environment (the outside in). It basically acts as a moisture magnet, which is exactly what we want! This is why it’s important to apply serums and moisturizers after, as it pulls those further into the skin. My hyaluronic acid of choice is from the ordinary.
Serum
Niacinamide helps to reduce inflammation, acne, pores and textured skin, But Here’s the kicker: it even helps in retaining moisture! And as we already discussed, is the key to great skin in the winter time. The one I’m currently using is the ordinary’s niacinamide + zinc.
Don’t forget your eyes
This is not mandatory, but I love to use the Ordinary’s caffeine solution to help with those mornings where I look worse than I feel. It helps to reduce undereye puffiness and pigmentation. If you can’t tell already, I absolutely love using the ordinary’s products they’re great value for the price.
Hello plump skin
Next up, lactic acid. I only use the ordinary’s lactic acid in my nighttime routine as it makes your skin sensitive to the sun. By helping to remove dead skin cells, it fades hyperpigmentation, smooths skin and also reduces fine lines and wrinkles, which is a major key for glowy skin in the winter.
Moisturizer
I think I’ve already made my point on why moisture is a necessity for your winter skincare routine, so I’ll say no more. My moisturizer of choice is one I just recently discovered and I love it so far, it’s the l’Oreal collagen moisture filler.
Sunscreen
We’re not done just yet! Lastly, Sunscreen should ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS be a staple in a good skin care routine. I’m currently using the banana boat sport sunscreen. I’ve been really active as of recently and it gets the job done. It also adds a bit of glow to my skin and spares me oh so horrendous the white cast!
In conclusion, remember this is what works for my skin and everyone skin composition is different, this is simply a guide to help finding what works for you. A skincare routine for glowy skin doesn’t have to be as complicated as you think. Lastly, remember what you put inside your body is just as important.
You are stunning girl! And you have amazing skin as well! I just recently learned about the brand, The Ordinary, and didn’t know which products to try first. Thanks for sharing your recommendations!
